Lorbac’s review of Bordeaux wine and wineries, complete with two maps, one coloured, numerous engravings and 14 additional full page plates. Exceptionally scarce, being one of a three volume series which also included the environs of Bordeaux and the wines of Saint-Émilion. All five crus classés are covered with illustrations of most châteaux. Occasional light marking and a little edgewear, but for the most part all in VG internal order. The maps and plates present particularly well. Large format (c.360x280mm) and now most handsomely rebound in half burgundy leather with attractive silk-patterned burgundy cloth. Five raised bands to spine with gilt titling and Bacchus motifs to compartments. An attractive gift for any Bordeaux wine lover. French language. Folio. 154pp + plates

Bookseller’s small label (harkening back to the days of NYC’s famed Fourth Avenue books district), few stray marks to front pastedown, front hinge starting. Leather with minimal rubbing. Overall, a vibrant near fine copy.

* estimated currency conversionRemarkable presentation portfolio commemorating a visit by members of the National Association Of Master Bakers and Confectioners from the UK to the Agneta-Park, Delft, site of the Netherland Yeast And Spirit Manufactory. The contents, printed on sheets c.320x440mm, include: contents sheet, single sided, printed red and black; 12pp transcript of press reports of the event; 8pp summary of employee conditions and benefits at the company; and 18 full size sheets with various plates. The first of these is a commemorative certificate presented to attendee Mr R W van Stolk, the second is a colour printed chart summarising the financial performance of the business, and the remaining 16 sheets show one or more mono photographs of the plant, its directors, Agneta-Park and the events of June 9th, many of which were taken by the pioneering Dutch photographer Henri de Louw. In general VG order throughout with some toning to stock, occasional corner creasing and light marking. Of the text elements, the press reports section is heavily toned to front page and the rear sheet has a substantial closed tear. All is presented in a green cloth portfolio with gilt titling and black decoration to front panel. This a little marked and lightly worn to edges with some marking to rear. Portfolio ties are absent. A remarkable glimpse of a socially progressive Dutch industry on the international stage. Scarce. Oblong elephant folio. [1], 12pp, 18pp + 18 plates.
